Q: What is a black titanium ring?

A: Black titanium ring is actually a titanium-zirconium alloy ring. Titanium is considered much more robust, durable and insensitive, which makes it an attractive companion for all couples of today. Titanium is known for its high strength, low density, corrosion resistance, and biocompatibility, while zirconium is favored for its good thermal stability and corrosion resistance. Combining these two metals can significantly improve the overall performance of the material.

Black Titanium rings are made of 51% Zirconium and 49% Titanium. Like the black zirconium ring, the black colour of black titanium ring is created by the heating process and not by coating, but the color is darker and more stable than the black zirconium ring.

The so-called ordinary black titanium ring on the market is only pure titanium with black electroplating, which is completely different from our genuine fired titanium-zirconium black titanium.

Q: Is the black color electroplated?

A: Definitely no electroplating and no surface coating. Based on the special property of titanium-zirconium alloy, the black layer is formed by high-temperature firing process and integrated with the metal body. It will never fade, peel off or tarnish.

Q: What is the difference between titanium-zirconium alloy and pure titanium?

A:

Titanium-zirconium alloy: Mixed with titanium and zirconium elements, it features higher strength, stronger corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance and super hardness. Widely used in aerospace and high-end chemical equipment, much more durable for jewelry.

Pure titanium: It has good biocompatibility and lower cost, but low hardness and easy to scratch. It can only be colored by electroplating and cannot realize high-temperature fired black finish.
